Welcome!

You're about to step into the world's first MMO, Lucasfilm's Habitat! There are thousands of regions to explore and many wonderful folks to meet from all around the world who come to visit every day.

This is the Web Client — Habitat reborn in your browser. There's no emulator to start and no disks to flip: it loads in seconds and runs at modern speed.

Logging In

When the title screen appears, click to begin. In a moment an Enter Habitat button shows up — press any key (or click it) and you'll be asked to type a name for your new Avatar, such as Threepwood, dril, or Phil Collins. That's it — you'll wake up inworld a moment later.

Moving and Doing

Your cursor is a Habitat joystick. Press and hold on the scene, then nudge in a direction to choose an action — the cursor changes color to show which one — and release to carry it out:

Nudge Action Cursor
Up GO — walk there green
Down DO — use / operate it yellow
Right GET — pick it up red
Left PUT — set it down blue

A quick tap with no nudge simply turns your Avatar to face that spot. To pick up or operate something, aim at the object before you release.

Talking

Just type — with your real keyboard or the on-screen one — and your words appear in a word balloon over your Avatar's head. Tap the keyboard icon (⌨) to show or hide the on-screen keyboard; it's handy on touch screens and kiosks. The F-keys trigger gestures and special actions (for example, F3 lists who else is here in the region).

Traveling

Click the arrow chevrons (◀ ▶ ▼) around the edges of the scene to walk into the neighboring region. The compass and the four region previews along the bottom show you which way each exit leads, so you'll always know where you're headed.

The Docent

This panel is your Docent — NeoHabitat's interactive guide. As you travel, it fills in with helpful tips, dynamic help, and historical background for the world around you. You can return to this page anytime by clicking the Help button.

Have Fun!
